You can either attend all three modules to develop your overall knowledge and skills or choose the module that you have most interest in – or send 3 people within your operation to a module each and grow your Green Teams knowledge.

Programme Aim:

The aim of this 3 day  -  or modular -  environmental course is to equip individuals with the skills necessary to implement an Environmental Management System within their business so as to identify opportunities to reduce consumption and costs and identify the actions required to achieve environmental certification.

Attendees can chose to attend the full 3 day programme or one (or more) of the modules to build up their skill and knowledge – or a business could send different delegates to each of the modules to spread the knowledge within the business.

 

Programme Objectives:

 On completion of the full 3 day course, the participant will;

 

-          Be able to understand the utility costs associated with their business

-          Be able to benchmark their business

-          Identify cost saving opportunities

-          Understand the principles and practices required to implement and sustain an Environmental   

           Management programme within their business

-          Identify the requirements for and prepare their business for environmental certification

-          Understand the marketing opportunities available for the business when going green

 

Trainer Profile

 Maurice J Bergin, M.Sc., FIHI, MMII, MIH, MFSPA

Maurice Bergin runs the Green Hospitality programme which offers environmental certification to the Irish Hospitality Sector and is the most succesful scheme of its nature in Ireland with many leading hospitality businesses as members.  Maurice is recognised as one of the leading experts within this area and has extensive knowledge of best practice within Ireland and around the World.

The GHP is recognised nationally and internationally as a robust programme with very strong credentials and follows the criteria set within the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.  Within Ireland the GHP programme has the support of the EPA, Fáilte Ireland,  IHI, IHF, SEAI and many local authorities.

Green Hospitality is an Irish company servicing the Irish  Hospitality sector and has recently achieved recognition as a "Guaranteed Irish" service business.

Maurice’s background is from within the hospitality industry having graduated from Shannon Hotel School and subsequently achieving a masters Degree from DIT, Cathal Brugha St.  With over 30 years experience across the world within the sector he brings an understanding of the challenges facing hospitality businesses on a daily basis.

In recent years Maurice has concentrated on the area of Hospitality Environmental Management and coupled with his extensive sectoral knowledge offers a unique perspective on the opportunities available to businesses in Ireland.  He has delivered training extensively, lectures, talks and publishes articles regularly on the subject of environmental management.
